Sagnik Bhattacharjee considers himself as an urban environment engineer. He currently works and lives in Prague, Czech Republic. He has a Masters (MS) in City and Urban environment from Ecole Centrale de Nantes in France and a Bachelor (BE) in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST Shibpur), Kolkata in India.
During his master studies, he joined the founding team of a new Czech startup company called ECOTEN urban comfort to develop environmental and climate change services based on urban microclimate simulation from the software-suite called SOLENE-microclimat, which was also the topic of his master’s thesis. After obtaining his master degree in 2017, he moved to Prague, Czech Republic to work in the newly founded company ECOTEN urban comfort. After a few years of working on entrepreneurial development and technical research activities related to urban microclimate simulations, he took the responsibility to lead the ECOTEN urban comfort as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to develop new technical services for urban development stakeholders using data from earth observation satellites by NASA and ESA. Later, he also took the responsibility to lead the company as the Chief Project Officer (CPO) and since then he has delivered successful projects to city municipality of Vienna and Prague and he has worked several urban projects with architect, real-estate developers, urban designers and researchers in various projects in France, Austria, Czech Republic, UK and USA.
In 2020, he has received funding European Space Agency and the City of Prague to develop new climate change service for smart cities applications using data from earth observation satellites in space.
